Our heart places (2): Sperlonga

There are places that, even if you don't reside there or if you don't live them daily, are still part of you.

Places where you feel at home every time you come back, places where you love to walk also on a cold and windy winter evening, places for which you feel a jealousy feeling seeing its stormed by a lot of tourists, something also disrespectful.

For us, serial travelers but at the same time lovers of our habits, this "second home" is certainly Sperlonga, a seaside and fishing village, set like a pearl among the best known Terracina and Gaeta and considered unanimously as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

As far as we are concerned, we can only agree.

We have visited some places in these years together, especially in Italy, but every time we happen in a seaside place that we like and strike, our sentence is always the same: “Beautiful this place ... but do you want to conmpare with Sperlonga? "

Even just arriving and walking in its "low" part makes the idea of this village beauty, and alone would justify a visit here.

The characteristic promenade, the beautiful Piazza Fontana - in which the light tones of the floor perfectly match the blue of the sea and the sky - and above all the wonderful Torre Truglia, the symbol of this town, a tower with a rectangular plan that once served as a place sighting for pirate ships.

However, it’s above all by entering and wandering through the historic center that from above dominates the surrounding landscape, you can fully breathe the atmosphere, the uniqueness and the charm of this place.

Its characteristic alleys - already wonderful in the "nature" version but enriched with flowers and ceramics - the small central square, a meeting place for travelers and poets who over the centuries have praised its beauty, but more than anything else the white color to dominate the scene, recreating the typical atmosphere of the most beautiful Greek islands.

And also, how can we forget the landscape that can be enjoyed by looking out from the terraces of the historic center, where by stretching out it almost seems to be able to touch Circeo Mountain, where Pontine islands (Ponza and Ventotene) stand out on the horizon and where you can see and admire the island of Ischia when sky is clear.

A wonderful village, which really doesn’t lack anything, but above all a place where every time we come back - for a romantic dinner, for a day at the beach or just for a Sunday stroll - it looks amazing as the first time.

That's love.
